We have listed some of the many interesting attractions and activities in the locality, with links to web sites where possible.

Local towns/villages of note:

Valencia - Spain's third-largest city is home to paella and the Holy Grail, it is also blessed with great weather and the spring festival of Las Fallas, one of the wildest parties in the country

Javea - a friendly family resort, with three main areas - the old town, the port and the beautiful beach at Arenal

Moraira - Originally a fishing village on a sheltered bay below a rocky headland, it remains one of the most unspoilt resorts. The intimate beach of El Portet is nearby

Calpe - a good place to get the feel of this coast with its two splendid beaches, cheerful shops, outdoor restaurants and lively nightlife

Altea - sheltered and encircled by steep hills and cliffs, Altea tumbles down the slopes below the blue tiled domed church of La Virgen de la Consuelo

Jalon Valley - famous for its orange and lemon trees and vineyards growing the Rioja grape. Sample the local wine at the Jalon Co-operativa

Guadalest - a pretty town within the walls of a one-time Moorish fortress, remaining relatively unspoilt thanks to it's inaccessibility to cars.

Benidorm - love it or hate it, no-one can criticise the slickness and efficiency of the operation, which truly provides something for everyone winter and summer alike

Local activities:

Terra Mitica - a vast new theme park with the largest wooden roller coaster in Europe

Mundomar and Aqualandia - Costa Blanca's answer to Seaworld and Wet and Wild, and the largest water park in Europe

Golf - four courses in the immediate vicinity:
La Sella (18 holes), Javea, Don Cayo, Ifach

Beaches - from the beautiful Arenal at Javea (a World Health Organization accredited "clean beach"), to Calpe's two enormous white beaches, the coastline is strewn with beautiful white sandy beaches to suit all tastes (even naturists !)

Markets - the smaller towns and villages of Costa Blanca all have weekly markets that are an experience not to be missed

Horse Riding - the Club Hipic Benissa is close to the villa, and can arrange outings for any level of experience, A great way to explore the traditionally terraced local countryside

Sailing/diving - the Costa Blanca is the perfect spot for water sports, and equipment can be hired locally. Costa Blanca Scuba has good local dive site information, and Mermaid is a friendly, local dive centre.
